We just released Alteon version 4.24, introducing one major new feature: guest commenting.
Alteon users can now send a link to anyone for commenting and review, regardless of whether or not they have an Alteon account. Clients, producers, collaborators, stakeholders—anyone, anywhere in the world—can now leave frame-accurate, color-coded comments on media with no login necessary.
To get started, when viewing media files, click the Share button—the same one that has always allowed non-users to review projects, view screeners and download media. In addition to the usual options (password protection, proxy download and an expiration date) you'll now see "Allow Commenting" as a box that can be checked. Copy the link and send it to as many collaborators as you like.
This redefines creative workflows for Alteon users, unlocking a new workflow that competes with similar review-and-approval tools that cost more than double Alteon's $12 monthly price.
The update comes weeks after Alteon introduced its revamped commenting power and item view, which debuted clip comments, hotkey controls and a new color scheme that aligns with popular NLEs.
