Today, we’re officially launching our Archive storage tier.
For just $6 per month per terabyte, Alteon Cloud’s Archive tier offers extremely competitive pricing for secure cloud storage without sacrificing organization or the ability to view footage. All meta tags, time-stamped comments and transcoded proxies remain part of the archived item structure, creating a seamless transition from hot to cold storage—and back again. And unlike competitor archival platforms, with Alteon Cloud, content creators can keep viewing proxies and altering meta tags even after files have been moved to Archive storage, providing more flexibility to manage past projects.
This new feature will result in significant cost-savings for content creators who don’t want, or need, to keep finished projects at their fingertips at all times. Rather than deleting files, or purchasing an ever-increasing amount of hard drives on which to back everything up—neither of which maintains metadata inputted in Alteon—our new Archive storage tier is an affordable, flexible solution for creatives who simply want to keep all their assets in a single place, even after completing a project.
With archived assets easily available, content creators of all backgrounds—from independent creators to larger corporations—can stop relying on cumbersome hybrid IT systems and shift toward a simplified process for their creative teams, more easily generating new revenue by leveraging old assets for clients.
After requesting to pull a file or project from Archive storage, users will have to wait 12 hours for the item to appear in their Online or Nearline tiers. Once the content has been retrieved, users can resume sharing, collaborating and integrating their media into Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro as normal.
While users can view files and edit metadata, they cannot download any content when items are archived. This restriction ensures that all content remains secure and accessible.
